Congratulations to undergraduate researcher, Nikka Givpoor, whose research this summer will be supported through an NIH REU supplement on the lab's MIRA grant! A huge thanks to the NIH/NIGMS for their support! Nikka also received the MTech ASPIRE Award for this summer (congrats, Nikka!) but declined it due to receiving the REU award.

Congratulations to PhD candidate Ariana DeCastro who defended her PhD dissertation today! Her dissertation project focused on understanding functional behaviors of organotropic triple negative breast cancer cells. Ariana joined the lab in August 2018 and is the lab's 5th PhD student to defend their dissertation! Congrats, Ariana!

Thank you to the organizers of the Physical Science of Cancer Gordon Research Conference for inviting Kim to present the lab's work at this GRC, which was held in Galveston, TX, this week. This was a fantastic conference and we're looking forward to the next one in 2 years!

Ariana is a 5th year PhD student in the lab and her work focuses on the effects of the organotropic tumor cell secretome on endothelial cell junction and barrier integrity. Congrats, Ariana!
Huge congratulations to Hiya Sawhney, who defended her Honors thesis project today! Hiya's thesis was titled, "The impact of the breast cancer cell secretome on induced brain microvascular endothelial cell tight junctions." After Hiya graduates with her B.S. degree this December, she will start a post-bac research position at the NIH, and she plans to apply for MD-PhD programs next year. Congratulations and excellent work, Hiya!
