Welcome to the
Cell and Microenvironment Engineering lab
in the Fischell Department of bioengineering
University of Maryland, College Park
We are a group of engineers/scientists focused on understanding the interplay between mechanical and biochemical cues from the cellular microenvironment on cellular behavior during normal homeostasis, progression of diseases, and therapeutic treatments. We engineer cells and their microenvironment in order to create model systems that allow us to understand fundamental aspects of cellular and tissue mechanobiology, which in turn will help us develop therapeutic strategies for these diseases.
Check out our research projects and recent news, and feel free to contact Dr. Kimberly Stroka with any questions. If you are interested in joining the lab, please contact Dr. Stroka. We're looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists/engineers to drive the lab forward.
