I was recently notified that I am this year's recipient of the Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award from the Biomedical Engineering Society. This award is in "recognition of a high level of originality and ingenuity in a scientific work in the field of biomedical engineering." The award consists of a crystal award, a complimentary registration to the annual meeting in October, a check for $1000, and travel expenses for the annual meeting up to $1000. In addition, I will present the Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Lecture at the 2014 annual BMES Meeting in October, as well as publish the text of the lecture in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering. I'm incredibly excited about this honor and thank the committee for selecting me to receive this award!

My first author invited review in Current Opinion in Cell Biology is now online! In this paper we describe new paradigms for cell migration from a bioengineering perspective. We highlight recent advances from the bioengineering community in the field of cell migration, as well as our own "Osmotic Engine Model" which uncovers a new mechanism for cell migration in confined spaces.
