Dr. Stroka gives invited seminar at Wash-U Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics9/19/2016
Dr. Stroka was invited by Dr. John Cooper, Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Washington University in St. Louis, to give their department seminar talk this week. Thanks to Dr. Cooper for the invitation, and to all who attended the seminar for the great turn-out! Dr. Stroka also had some great conversations with faculty, students, and postdocs in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering Departments.
PhD students Kelsey Gray and Marina Shumakovich traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, this week to present their research at the 19th International Signal Transduction at the Blood-Brain Barriers Symposium. Kelsey presented a talk titled, "Mechanobiological Response of Human Brain Endothelium: Role of Cell Contractility in Tight Junction Expression," and Marina presented a poster titled, "Microfluidic Models to Understand Tumor Cell Mechanobiology at the Blood-Brain Barrier."
They both have been selected to receive the International Conference Student Support Award from the UMD Graduate School for their travel to this conference! Congrats to Kelsey and Marina, and a huge thank you to the UMD Graduate School for their support! Images below: Kelsey starting her talk Marina at her poster Exploring Copenhagen! |
