We were excited to host approximately 20 high school girls participating in the Women in Engineering camp. During the first hour of our session, Kelsey, Marina, Matt, Dakota, and Dr. Stroka talked (and showed Powerpoint presentations) about our pathways to the field of bioengineering and our current positions. During the second hour, we took the students to our lab and introduced them to our research areas and gave them a tour of the lab. We broke into two groups, with one group observing cell culture techniques with Kelsey and Matt, and the second group learning about microscopy and our engineered microenvironments with Marina, Dakota, and Dr. Stroka. The students asked some great questions and it was a great experience for all of us!
