Huge congratulations to Hiya Sawhney, who defended her Honors thesis project today! Hiya's thesis was titled, "The impact of the breast cancer cell secretome on induced brain microvascular endothelial cell tight junctions." After Hiya graduates with her B.S. degree this December, she will start a post-bac research position at the NIH, and she plans to apply for MD-PhD programs next year. Congratulations and excellent work, Hiya!
Congratulations to Lauren Griffith, who presented her research this week at the ABRCMS Meeting in Anaheim, CA! Lauren is a senior undergraduate student from Mansfield University and joined our lab this past summer through the NIH STEP-UP program. Congrats and fantastic job, Lauren!
Congratulations to undergraduate student, Udit Gupta ('24), who received the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTech) ASPIRE Award for fall 2022! This award will support his research project which aims to develop analysis tools for quantification of brain endothelial cell-cell junction stiffness from AFM images. Congrats, Udit!
Congratulations to undergraduate students Autumn Hengen and Mariam Rahman, who have been accepted into the Bioengineering Honors Program! Through this program, they will complete a 2-year research project, culminating in a written thesis and oral defense. Looking forward to awesome research projects from both of them!
Dr. Stroka has been selected as this year's winner of the Winston Family Honors Outstanding Faculty Award! A huge thank you to the Winston Family for endowing this award and supporting Honors programs at UMD. Dr. Stroka has been the Director of the Bioengineering Honors Program since 2017.
